MUSTWORK MAMBO DANCER

Brough was a puppy from Taz’s first litter in 2006, sired by Ben.Brough’s family have worked very hard with him in the two years that they have had him, which has helped to nurture his natural ability and allowed him to develop into a fearless gundog! Due to this we feel they should have a page dedicated to them.
Brough and his handler/owner Paul are members of warrenbygundogs and have been training with them for some time. They are now part of the Warrenby gundogs display team and have taken part in displays round the uk.
Ashford Valley Hunt at Charing on May 5th
Cowpie Country Fair on May 11th
And, Edenbridge show on August the 24th & 25th
At these events Brough shared the ring with a GSP bitch and her handler demonstrating, hunting/quartering, steadiness at point and retrieval, using remote controlled launchers and Bangos. They then took part in the main mixed display.Earlier this year Paul & Brough’s trainer encouraged them to have a go at working tests.
In June 2008 Paul plucked up the courage to enter The Italian Spinone working test. They entered the special Beginners test as the club secretary had advised, due to Pauls’ lack of experience. Brough found this very boring as the test had retrieves at 10 feet and they had been training at 3 to 400 yards! Even so they still came in a respectable 3rd place, not bad for first time out!
Their next test was a GSP Novice test in Sussex. Brough had near perfect marks in 3 of the 4 tests but was sick before the 4th resulting in a low score due to illness, so missing out on a placing.
The Hungarian Vizsla organised the next event at Stourhesd. Brough again scored near perfect in 3 of the 4 disciplines but chose to mess about on the split retrieve which cost them points and gained them a 3rd Place! In September Brough & Paul attended the last working test of the season, they entered in Novice which had 47 runners. They achieved 85 points out of 100 and came in 7th Place!Brough & Paul are now trying their hand at dogging in this season, and we look forward to hearing how they get on.All in all, a very promising start to a young dogs working life. Paul says he owes a lot of their success to his trainer Andrew Farley of warrenbygundogs , but he will have also had to put a lot of work in himself, which just goes to show, you don’t have to be an expert to enjoy working a GWP!
